FilAm GC Kicks Off It's First Tournament of the Year 2012

First of all I’d like to thank the Drake Besheer Agency w/ Farmers Insurance for sponsoring this month’s tournament. Also thanks go out to the tournament committee for putting together a great tournament. The venue was outstanding and the perks were worth it. Also thanks to those of you that braved the cold weather and came out to support your club.

We had a total of 18 players join the tournament. Everyone that came out got a voucher for a free round of golf at Teravista Golf Club. The following players received awards:

Closest to the Pin – Lino Oballo (received 2 sleeves of Pro V1X balls)
Longest Drive – Ron Waller (received 2 sleeves of Pro V1X balls)
2nd Place Net – Jhay Adones (received $40 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods)
1st Place Net – Luis Lugo (received $60 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods)
Skins Hole 10 – Lino Oballo ($26 cash)

Since we had 18 players, $18 will go into the hole in one fund. No one got a hole in one so this moves forward to the next tournament.

Congratulations again to all the winners. The first leader board of 2012 is attached. Thanks to our Chairman Jhay Adones for keeping track of this. I’ve also attached a copy of our latest handicap report which is based just on tournament scores.

I’d also like to welcome our newest member, Patrick Lucas. Some of you have already met him, but if not please introduce yourself at the next tournament.

One thing I’d like to mention, we had a couple of players not show up for one reason or another. The club had to pay for their tee time even though they were not here. We need to try and avoid this in the future. If you commit to play you should try and make sure you make it out to the tournament. We have to sign a contract with the golf club when we book our tournament and we give them a final headcount 7 days before the event. We are committed to paying for that number of players. When you don’t show up the club suffers in the end. Not to mention, this puts undue stress on our tournament committee. Please be mindful of this for future tournaments.

Our tournament committee is hard at work setting up our next tournament for February 25, 2012. We’ll send out information in the next week or two.
