quickly as the 5th flight headed for 13th hole.
The last flight consisting of Rene Lagtapon
of the Blue team and Noly Area and Dennis Gangoso of the

May 9, 2009 Blackhawk Golf Course, Pflugerville, Texas
Special thanks, to Edwin and Liz Tilmar
for hosting a great party around the Pacquiao vs Hatton
fight.
The clubs first President's Cup was played
at BlackHawk Golf Course in Pflugerville, Texas. The weather
was overcast but was fantastic to play, because it hid the
sun and there was a cool breeze throughout the morning.
The Red and Blue teams competed fearlessly
against each other to have bragging rights until the next
tournament. Both teams were matched equally. As usual our
club chairman Carlos
"Jhay" Adones, the captain of the Red Team, brought
his "A"
game making the rest of the field want to hide his clubs
after the tournament. His team mate Edwin Tilmar, sank a
25-30' putt.....WOW! I heard there's a story behind this
putt---From what I heard it's censored and cannot be published.
Rene
Lagtapon, the Blue Team captain with his team mate Edgar "Onyok" Denila
was in their zone---playing tough against their opponents. Thanks
to Gerry Miranda, TC Chair, for coordinating the tournament
at Blackhawk.
Gerry did a great job negotiating the tournament
package that provided all the players with lunch, FREE Round
of Golf and a FREE Month, Player Development membership at
Blackhawk!
All-in-All the members had a great time and enjoyed
seeing everyone together again. After the tournament, Edwin
and his family hosted a dinner party around the Pacquioa
vs Hatton boxing match the following evening. Thank you,
everyone had a great time! Photos will be posted soon!

"Congratulations to the FilAm Golfers Assc. of Tyler Texas"

On the eve of the tournament the FilAm
Golfers Club of Austin hosted a welcome dinner reception for
the visiting players at Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Miranda's home in
Cedar Park. Thanks to all the members of the FilAm Austin club
for your fantastic contribution in making the evening a success!
The weather was not the best conditions
to play golf, it was barely 45° and did not get over 58° all
day. The competition on the course was fierce, with both teams
well matched agains their opponents.
The last two groups of the tournament coming
into the 18th hole, 472 yard, Par 5 were the determining factors
in the overall competition. Orly Nogra of the FilAm Tyler/Dallas
club DRAINED an almost impossible 40-50' putt to tie the tournament
competition. Max Larioza of FilAm Austin drained a 5' putt that
would have given the club the championsip. BUT, that long putt
by Orly Nogra clinched a play-off between the clubs for the championship.
Jhay Adones and Joven Taberna, team club captains selected two
players from thier club to playout the tie-breaker for the Friendhip
Cup championship.
Richard Arroyo and Jimmy Taylor of FilAm
Tyler, Aziel Suarez and Jhay Adones of FilAm Austin were the
chosen players to finalize the competition—Richard Arroyo
drained what seemed to be a 3' putt after both Jhay and Azeil
missed their 5' putts.

Jimmy Clay Golf Course,
Austin, TX |
Austin
Texas – It was another fun sunny cold and windy weekend.
But few of our club members still manage to represent the club
and help the charity event (Live, Laugh & Love) scramble
tournament held at the municipal Jimmy Clay course.
Although the 2 team did not bag any trophies,
the 2 team had fun after the games. The 1st team (Austin Bullseye)
led by Rene shoot a -3 under 69 score and the second team led
by Alex shoot -1 under 71. Not a bad score for both team on
a cold and windy weather on the long 6432 par 72 course.
Congratulations to Russ Lising for winning
a 4 person round of golf valid anywhere in the state of Lone
Star. In addition he almost win the longest drive on one of the
par 5 hole but out drive by another team. All in all it was fun
and thank to all member who participate last weekend.
This coming weekend the club is planning
to have a singles or best ball tournament before we start our
monthly stroke play next season. The club also is planning to
have scramble tournament on either December 13th, or the 20th
so please always check the sites for updates. |
